Do you want to enhance your physical appearance, maintain your general health now and in the future, improve the quality of your life, and slow down the aging process? You ask, “But is this really possible? (YES) Can I accomplish this even if I am already overweight? (YES) Can I accomplish this if I am 40? (YES) If so how do I accomplish this?
The answer is it’s all about the mitochondria! Did you know that mitochondria are referred to as the cellular “power plants” due to their primary function of producing energy in the from of ATP. ATP is a high-energy molecule that is necessary to drive the biochemical reactions that allow our cells and tissues to function normally. ATP is analogous to the gasoline that fuels our cars. Without it, our metabolism grinds to a halt, and our cells rapidly die.
Mitochondria are comparable to the oil refineries that provide the gas (ATP) that fuel our vehicles (bodies). Mitochondria are found in all of our cells, but are especially plentiful in metabolically active cells, such as brain, skeletal muscle, heart, liver, and kidney. The point that is being made is: we all need energy, and lots of it. As mentioned earlier, we produce virtually all of our useable energy in the mitochondria in the form of ATP.
Obviously, it is very important to have well-functioning mitochondria for optimal energy production. The question is do you really have to worry about the condition of your mitochondria? Can the function or efficiency of your mitochondria really decline? And, if so, does this really lead to health problems, or is this just a problem for top-level athletes, who need to maximize their energy production for optimum athletic performance?
The abbreviated answer to these questions is YES! There are many studies of diseases derived from a mitochondrial mutation(s). Much evidence suggests that once you have reduced mitochondrial function, there is an escalating cycle of damage carried out on mitochondria. Damage to mitochondria DNA leads to manufacturing of defective proteins and the replication of mutated DNA to produce new, defective mitochondria. This transmission of biochemically damaged DNA makes the problems more permanent and more difficult to treat.
In conclusion, there is a great deal of evidence signifying that the aging process is closely tied to the accumulation of oxidative damage to cells, and in particular to mitochondrial DNA; and, accumulated defects in mitochondrial function can produce many of the most common health problems in our society. These health problems include aging, neurodegeneration, alzheimer’s disease, parkinson’s disease, cardiovascular risk, Diabetes, obesity, and myopathy.
The following products that we have packaged provide direct mitochondrial biogenesis (stimulate the production of additional mitochondria) through the direct transcriptional co-activator, PGC-1 alpha.
Mitochondrial biogenesis is mediated by exercise, changes in the cellular levels of nitric oxide, and activation and/or increased content of the proteins, AMPK and SIRT1. To increase mitochondria, both exercise and these other three factors require the involvement of PGC-1 alpha.
